Mary-Anne is the Manager, Development and Environmental Services, at Singleton Council in the NSW Hunter Valley. Mary-Anne grew up in Central Queensland on a cattle property and began her interest in science at a young age, working the land. After graduating from the University of Queensland as one of the first cohorts of Environmental Science graduates, Mary-Anne spent six years working at the Centre for Mined Land Rehabilitation at UQ as a researcher, spending time in Weipa, Central Queensland, NSW, Stradbroke Island and Christmas Island researching the technical challenges to rehabilitating minesites.
