Psychology

Christine Bond

Picture
Christine Bond is a consulting psychologist in private practice, but psychology was not her first career. After leaving school, Christine initially began a STEM career in gemmology, the scientific study of gemstones, which was required for specialised work in the jewellery industry.  However, she knew that psychology was her true interest. After raising a family, she studied psychology through both science and social science pathways, but had always had an interest in philosophy, psychology, science, visual arts, music, spirituality, and what drives human behaviour. Upon completion of her Honours year, Christine initially worked with Mackay Community Mental Health (Queensland Health) for a number of years, during which she obtained full registration as a general psychologist. This work gave Christine a broad range of experiences in diverse areas of mental health, including screening for mental health and neurological conditions, as well as experience of mental health operations within hospitals. Christine has worked with teams and clients from a wide variety of groups, including Lifeline, the Queensland Police Force, the Queensland Ambulance Service, Pain clinics, and Victims Services.

Over the last two decades, Christine has trained in a range of therapy types, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and more. She is currently completing training in clinical hypnosis and integrates a range of therapies to support her clients, depending on each person's needs.
